NPSA Chair Richard Vincent joined healthcare leaders and advocates to discuss key topics for the medicines sector at the State of the Industry panel session at APP 2025.

Richard reflected on 12 months of significant progress which has delivered two historic industry agreements with the Commonwealth Government – the 8CPA and the first Pharmaceutical Wholesaler Agreement (1PWA), which together provide much needed financial certainty for community pharmacy and the medicine supply chain.

Detailing the features of the 1PWA, Richard explained how the agreement will deliver cheaper medicines for patients and measures to continue ensuring every Australian gets a fair share when medicines are in shortage due to global supply chain issues.

Richard spoke of the work undertaken to manage medicines during an increasing number of natural disaster events. This remains a core competency for NPSA members – tested again in the first few months of 2025, when NPSA members supported Queenslanders through two major flood and cyclone disasters.
